Become a Volunteer Tutor for Partners in Reading!!

Do you enjoy reading and helping others? If so, you should consider becoming a volunteer tutor for the adult literacy program, Partners in Reading. The experience is not only exciting, but rewarding. You will be working with an English-speaking adult who is 18 years or older. One-on-one tutoring will take place within branches of the San Jose Public Library and other public sites of San Jose.


QUALIFICATIONS...
the basic requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Attend 14-hours of tutor training workshops
  • Patience
  • Flexibility
  • Cultural sensitivity
  • Sense of humor
  • Two hours tutoring per week for a minimum of six months (twice a week is best)
  • Enthusiasm!

Tutor Training 2008

Orientation: Wed., Jan. 16th
Training: 1st Sat., Jan. 19th
Training: 2nd Sat., Jan. 26th

Pre-registration is required.
